Child Support Enforcement (CSE) (800) 992-9457

Child Support Enforcement is a program that works to ensure both parents are responsible for the financial support of their children. CSE agents help locate non-custodial parents, establish paternity of the child(ren), and petition the court to order child support payments.

The Food Stamp Program is a federal food assistance program that helps provide food assistance to low-income familines. The purpose of the Food Stamp Program is to end hunger and improve nutrition and health.

Childcare Resource & Referral is opperated by Craven Smart Start, is designed to help families find high quality childcare for their children in Craven County. Child Care Resource & Referral works to improve availability, affordability, and quality of child care in the Craven County community. Services for parents include refferals, not recommendations, for child care, parenting workshops, a toy and resource lending library open to the public, and quarterly parent news letters.

Craven County Family Literacy (252) 224-3226

Craven County Family Literacy serves families with children ages birth to eight years old. The program includes for componenets: Adult Education, Early Childhood Education, Parenting Education and Parent and Child Together (PACT). Parents and children attend school together and have opportunities to grow and learn. Children attend early childhood classrooms and participate in activities that improve their language, social, emotional, and physical growth. Parents of these children participate in adult basic education classes to earn a GED or learn English and parenting education.

Head Start is a national program that promotes school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children ages three and four years. Head Start provides comprehensive child development services to economically disadvantaged children and families. The Head Start program engages parents in their children's learning and helps them make progress toward their education, literacy and employment goals.

The More at Four program is a state-funded, community-based, voluntary pre-kindergarten initiative designed to prepare at risk four-year-olds in North Carolina for success in school. The More at Four program meets high-quality standards, with a specific curriculum that is focused on preparing children in developmentally appropriate ways to enhance kindergarten readiness. More at Four classes are located in various locations thoughout Craven County.

Child Care Subsidy is available to eligible families through the Craven County Department of Social Services (DSS).  This program helps income and situational eligible families to receive assistance in paying for childcare for children.

 

Child Care Transportation (252) 636-4900

Transportation is provided to and from child care for eligible, young children with special needs. Eligibility is determined by Day Care Workers of the Craven County Department of Social Services.

CCR&R has contact information for child care programs, including drop-in and part-day sites. Parents are encouraged to call CCR&R, if they are looking for these child care resources.

Craven-Cherry Point Child Development Center (CCPCDC) provides high quality enhanced services for children with special needs and typically developing children, for ages infant to five years of age.
